Huston Company Gives Update
On
Royster-Clark Project Hauling
Last Updated: January 18, 2012
Reading from an email received from R.G. Huston Company Senior Engineer Dennis Richardson, Town Chairman Kris Hampton said the Cottage Grove construction company will have trucks hauling materials from the staging location at Nora Pit to the Olson Farm located in the southeast section of the Town.
Richardson said they have completed about one third of the material hauling. Town Clerk Kim Banigan said that the remaining transport would not all be within the Town as some of the fill would be going to farms in the town of Sun Prairie.
Town Supervisor Mike DuPlayee asked if the soil going to the Olson Farm was free of contaminates that had been detected in some of the soil being extracted from the old Royster-Clark fertilizer site west of Stoughton Road on Cottage Grove Road. Hampton responded saying that the soil being brought to the farm will be contaminate free.
Answering a question from Supervisor Steve Anders regarding potential road damage from a combination of fluctuating temperatures in the past few weeks and heavy trucks loads, Hampton said he asked Public Works Head Jeff Smith who said he didn't have any concerns at this point, but he wouldn't be certain until this coming spring.
