Town Buying $6,015 Road Sweeper

Purchase of a new $6,015 road sweeper was approved by the Board at its November 22 meeting.
The new sweeper, equipped with a power take off mechanism, will replace an existing sweeper that Public Works Head Jeff Smith says is to the point where it would be more cost effective to buy a new sweeper as opposed to continuing to repair the old one.
“It’s going to need some work," said Smith abotu the old sweeper that was purchased in the early 1970s.
The funds will come from leftover budget money for the Town’s new 2012 pick-up truck. Smith expects to get $500 to $600 for the old brush. “I am hoping maybe a farmer in the area or a contractor might want it.”
