A revised Town building inspector contract was approved containing language added regarding building permit fee collection and fee transfer to the Town as well delivery of quarterly inspection reports to the town clerk.
“When you guys talked about this last time, your motion was to add the calendar quarterly reporting of the inspections,” said clerk Kim Banigan to Board members. But as she was making these changes, Banigan said she realized that there was nothing that really laid out what was expected of the building inspector regarding monthly delivery of application copies. That’s where she said the E and F sections came in. Banigan said she reviewed the changes with Town Building Inspector Tom Viken who said—according to Banigan—was fine and that he had already been following that process. “I just thought it really should be spelled out in here because we don’t really have anything procedural,” said Banigan.
One concern brought up by Supervisor Mike Kindschi was regarding something he heard about Viken telling Town building permit applicants to go to the Village to get an application, and cross out “village” and write in ‘town.” “I don’t think that’s good business practice,” said Kindschi. Viken was made aware of the concern, Banigan said. “I’ve had some discussions with him about that. And that’s one of the other reasons I wanted this in here because I want it to say procedurally that he is to do this stuff.”
