Business Owner Offers To Repair Road
Last Updated: November 27, 2011
The Town OK'd Safe Guard Storage Owner Mike Niebuhr offer to repair road damage he anticipates to inflict on Luds Lane during construction work that will be going on at his business this spring.
Since part of the expansion will require laying down asphalt to expand the driving area around the new building, Niebuhr thought it would be more efficient to do the work on the front end as opposed to having the Town make the repairs and he reimburse on the backend.
The cement trucks that will come in during the construction, he said will likely do the damage.
“One of my main questions is would it be okay, nearing the end of the project, if I could have my asphalt contractors repair onto the main road with Jeff’s (Smith) overview instead of having a separate Town subsidized where I get the bill.”
Hampton said that if Niebuhr starts the construction during the spring road weight restrictions, he would be responsible for any additional damages. He also reminded Niebuhr that his property could be reassessed in the future depending on whether his neighbor to the south Capital Underground decided to develop. Niebuhr said he had not forgot about that.
